MYVP on to a new path...

MYVP (Manchester Youth Volunteering Project) has for over 15 years worked with the young people of Manchester and supported their volunteering, ideas, voice and social action ideas.

We have supported over 7,500 young people and hundreds of community organisations and events over the years, and, we hope, left a lasting legacy of community action.

MYVP have however come to the decision that under the current economic climate, that we need to adapt and make changes to how our services are provided, and that those services to the people of Manchester are more important than a single organisations future.

After over a decade of work from numerous organisations, including MYVP and many talented individuals, Manchester is finally to have a Volunteer Centre from October 2011. This will be a Volunteering England recognised and registered centre, which opens up new opportunities for support, recognition and resources to the volunteers of Manchester.

In light of these changes MYVP has taken the decision to transfer it's knowledge, information assets, goodwill and support to the new Volunteer Centre, in the sure knowledge it will provide an excellent service to the people of all ages in Manchester.

The new Volunteer Centre will be developed by MACC and its partners and will be in the context of an new infrastructure to support Manchester's voluntary and community sector, and so we are working to transfer our legacy to this new structure.

MYVP will there fore be winding down its activities and carrying out the transfer during September 2011.

Finally on the behalf of the Trustees, Volunteers and Staff of MYVP we would like to thank all our partners and supporters for their work over the years, and most importantly we would like to thank the young people of Manchester who have given their time, skills, creativity and enthusiasm, freely and generously over the years.

So thanks to every young person who's volunteered with MYVP over the years, you're the ones who made it worth while.
